Work on integrated bus stand soon

Work on establishing an integrated bus stand in the city would begin soon, said K.N.Nehru, Transport Minister, here on Friday.

The bus stand would be established in a location close to major national highways.

The site would be finalised after an inspection by senior officials of the Transport Department. The integrated bus stand would also include a separate facility for omni-buses.

A trade centre would also come up in the site, he told reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration of a restroom for State Express Transport Corporation employees here on Friday.

Referring to the meeting convened by Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in Chennai on Thursday to discuss development projects for Tiruchi, the Minister said that the meeting examined the modalities of the transfer of the TANSI land to the district administration for the construction of an auditorium close to the new integrated Collectorate and the Aavin land at Ariyamangalam to the Corporation for shifting the wholesale traders from the Gandhi Market.

Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi would visit Tiruchi by July to declare open the new Collectorate, the completed components of the drinking water supply augmentation scheme, the flood control scheme works in the city and other development projects. Mr. Karunanidhi would also inaugurate the IT Park and the Indian Institute of Management.
