Expert panel inspects road alignment

An expert committee, constituted as per the directions of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, conducted a field inspection of the alignment of the Tiruchi-Karur by-pass road to be laid by the National Highways Authority of India as part of the widening of the Tiruchi and Karur section of National Highway 67.

Based on petitions from the local farmers, the High Court Bench had set aside the land acquisition notification and ordered the constitution of the expert committee to inspect the site and explore the feasibility of realigning the road so as to minimise the disturbance to the water bodies.
