Institution of Valuers to start office in Tiruchi

nstitution of Valuers will start a full-fledged office in the city to create awareness among the engineering students, engineers of various companies and members of the public about the scope and prospects of valuation.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Mr. Thiagarajan, who was elected its national president for a three-year term from January 1, said that there was a strong case for sensitising engineering college students and youths to the scope of valuation as a profession in 19 categories such as banking, insurance, civil engineering, jewellery and machinery segments.

The Institution will also impress upon the Centre to pass the ‘Valuers’ Bill’ in the Parliament so that the members of the public realise the scope of the profession.

Mr. Thiagarajan pointed out that the Institution presently accounted for 40 branches in the the country and 20,000 members. He said he would take steps to start branches and enrol more members during his tenure.

Plans for organising seminars and workshops for explaining the concept of valuation and its applications in various fields besides the strategy for arriving at the accuracy in the process of valuation will be organised to benefit the students in February in the city.

A special information cell, led by S. Baskar, secretary of Tiruchi branch of the Institution of Valuers, has also been set up for offering information to the needy people. Those interested could get their doubts clarified by dialling 93451-02788, he said.

V.R.N.A. Arun, Vice-Chairman of the Tiruchi branch of the Institution, and its past chairman M.V. Maruthachalam said that the Tiruchi branch had bagged several certificates and shields in recognition of its quality service
