Trichy Resellers Find Good Demand for Branded PCs

Trichy, a commercial center in Tamil Nadu, is situated on the banks of the river Cauvery. By getting familiar with latest IT trends, the region is emerging as one of the busiest IT hubs in South India. As per the resellers in this area, customers prefer branded laptops - mainly HP and Compaq, and claim to have around 50-75% growth in HP's laptop and desktop sale. However, there's also a demand for assembled PCs. According to the resellers, the price difference between branded PCs and assembled PCs is around Rs. 500- Rs. 1000 only.

The ongoing slowdown in the financial market has its own impact on the region's IT industry also. Suresh Kumar, Kaliappan, Proprietor, Terabyte Technologies, said, "The inflation and increase in dollar rate have affected the IT business in Trichi very badly." Nevertheless, he is happy with the Diwali scheme offered by HP, wherein a customer can get a webcam free on the purchase of Compaq desktop-dual core or core2 dual. "This has helped us increase our profit margin," he added.

On the contrary, many resellers in the region are not very much happy with the new range of Compaq CQ series laptops. "These laptops do not feature built-in drives, which makes it difficult for us. We have to download all these drives from the web," said T. Durai Murugan, Proprietor, PC World.

In the words of H. Wilson, Proprietor, Cemos Electronics, "Zenith desktops earn him lot of profit. Lenovo laptops are also preferred by consumers, as they offer variety. The company also tries to attract customers with latest advertisements and promotions."
