IIM-T sets new record in placements

Creating new records, Indian Institute of Management-Tiruchirappalli (IIM-T) has placed 172 out of 176 students in the batch of 2016-2018 with an average package of Rs. 14.28 lakh across various domains, registering an increase in the average annual compensation by 7.4% compared to last year.

The highest international annual compensation was Rs. 54.5 lakh and the highest domestic compensation was Rs. 31.7 lakh, a IIM-T press release said.

The Average Annual Compensation of top 10 percentile was Rs. 29,42 lakh, and for the top 25 percentile, it was Rs. 22.7 lakh. The median annual compensation was Rs. 13,00,000, it added.

The average annual compensation of top 25 percentile increased by 24%. Also there has been four-fold increase in the domestic offers which has an annual compensation above Rs. 30 lakh and six-fold increase in the annual compensation above Rs. 20 lakh in the overall offers to the students this year. These feat were achieved with a batch size increase of 63%, Abhishek Totawar, Chairperson, Placement and External Relations said, adding that the placement statics were a proof of the brand image IIM-T has built in the past few years.

Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM-T said the institute’s emergence as a leading business school in the country reflected the extent of trust and confidence the corporate world had bestowed on it and its students.

The placement process witnessed 113 companies extending 177 offers to the 172 students for roles in Finance, Sales and Marketing, Consulting & Analytics, Strategy & General Management, Operations, and Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource.

The regular recruiters included JP Morgan & Chase, L&T, Cognizant, Dell, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, Avalon Consulting, Deloitte, HCL, Royal Bank of Scotland, RBL Bank and Saint Gobain.

Among the new recruiters hosted by IIM-T this year were GMR Group, UltraTech Cement, DHL, Tolaram Group, ValueLabs, Trafigura, VLCC and Kotak Life Insurance.
