Train stoppage at Srirangam for 3 days

Southern Railway has announced that Chennai-Madurai-Chennai Vaigai Express trains will temporarily stop at Srirangam for a minute for three days from December 28 to 30.

The temporary stoppage is in view of the annual Vaikunta Ekadasi festival at Srirangam on December 29. A Southern Railway press release said Madurai-bound Vaigai Express will arrive at Srirangam at 5.59 p.m. and depart at 6 p.m. The Chennai-bound Vaigai Express will reach Srirangam at 9.22 a.m. and leave at 9.23 a.m.

Local holiday

A local holiday has been declared for Tiruchi district on December 29 in view of the Vaikunda Ekadasi festival at the Srirangam Sri Ranganthaswamy Temple. The important event marks the opening of the Paramapadavasal, Collector K.Rajamani said.
