Tiruchi NCC cadet selected for YEP

A senior division NCC Air Wing cadet from Tiruchi has been selected to represent the country in the Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) to Bangladesh.

Flight Cadet Warrant Officer Gokul Prathap, studying BSc Chemistry in St. Joseph College, is one among the handful of NCC cadets in the country to have been selected for the prestigious YEP to represent India.

This is the third time in a row that a senior division NCC Air Wing cadet of 3 TN Air Squadron (Tech) NCC, Tiruchi, has been hand picked to represent India in the YEP, said Wing Commander C. Gunasekaran, the Commanding Officer of the unit.

The programme at Bangladesh will commence on December 14.

As part of the programme, Cadet Gokul, along with the Indian contingent, will participate in various national events and meet dignitaries including the Prime Minister and Service Chiefs, as scheduled by the host country Bangladesh.

In 2015, Flight Cadet Senior Under Officer S. Manoj Kumar of Bishop Heber College, Tiruchi was sent to Bangladesh under the YEP. In 2016, it was Flight Cadet Senior Under Officer Shubham Bajpai of Periyar Maniammai University, Vallam, who was sent to Russia under the same programme.

NCC Rockfort Tiruchi Group Commander R. Sivanathan congratulated Gokul Prathap for his achievement. Gokul’s father is a Head Constable at Central Industrial Security Force.
