Indian Institute of Management - Tiruchi (IIM-T), which is currently ranked seventh among management institutes under NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) 2017, has taken steps to move up within the top five positions in the coming years.

Increasing research output in national and international journals by way of appointing additional faculty, obtaining international accreditations, conducting more number of training programs at the Tiruchi and Chennai campuses, strengthening placements, and having tie-ups with business schools abroad, are on the agenda of IIM-T, to catch up with the older IIMs that now occupy the top five positions.

Ten new faculty members with experience will be recruited shortly to add to the current strength of 35 so that the research output could be increased.

The IIM-T will first go for AMBA (Association of MBAs) accreditation and subsequently for AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and EQUIS (EFMD Quality Improvement System) accreditations, IIM-T Director Bhimaraya Metri told media persons on Friday.

Likewise, more number of tie-ups with management institutes of global repute will also be finalised.

The IIM-T currently has academic cooperation for student and faculty exchanges, joint research and teaching by the faculty members with five institutions: IAE Aix-Marseille Graduate School of Management; ESSCA - Ecole de Management, School of Management; EMLYON Business School, SKEMA Business School, and ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon, all in Europe, the IIMT Director said.
