DGP nod sought for new shooting range
The Tiruchi police commissionerate has sought permission of the Director General of Police (DGP) to set up a new shooting range at the Armed Reserve ground in K.K. Nagar.
Speaking to The Hindu , A. Amalraj, Commissioner of Police, Tiruchi, said there was a need to create infrastructure in Tiruchi for the youngsters to take shooting as a sport. Customised training on air rifle, rifle and pistol should be given to young shooters. With the aim of creating all infrastructures, a new shooting range would be established at AR ground. A proposal had been sent to the DGP for permission.
Mr. Amalraj said it would be a 50-metre-range and have 20 targets. At a time, 50 persons could undergo training. “The proposed facility will be a much needed boost to shooters,” he said.
