‘588 road accident cases reported within the city limits so far this year

The police have appealed to two-wheeler riders to adhere to helmet rule which is being implemented keeping in mind public welfare.

Those travelling on two-wheelers should deem it as their responsibility to wear helmet, a press release from the city police office here said.

Checks were being conducted within the city limits to enforce helmet rule so as to prevent casualty and in a bid to create awareness among residents of the importance of wearing helmet while riding.

The release further a total number of 588 road accident cases had been reported within the city limits till date in the current year.

The number of deaths was 130 while the injured were 705.

During the past three months (September, October and November) this year, the number of those dead in accidents without wearing helmet was 16 in equal number of cases registered.

The number of those who sustained injuries without wearing helmet was 71, the release further said.
