List of applicants for the post of vice chancellor (VC) at the Bharathidasan University (BDU) is expected to be out by Monday evening.
The VC search committee headed by former vice-chairperson of the State Planning Commission, Santha Sheela Nair, who is also the convener of the committee will meet on Monday to decide on the candidates.
The process to select VC is going simultaneously for BDU and Periyar University, Salem. The list of applicants for Periyar University is already out. A total 194 candidates have applied for the VC post at the Periyar University as per the list released by the nodal officer of the search committee.
However, the VC search committee of BDU is yet to make the list public despite finishing the process of receiving applications a day before Periyar University. The last date to receive applications from the candidates was fixed as November 20 for BDU.
Giving the unavailability of all members of the committee as the reason for delay in making the list of candidates public, syndicate nominee to the VC search committee for BDU, S Sivasubramaniyam said that the list would be published by Monday evening.
"In the first step, we will see that the applicants fulfill the basic qualification as per the GO (government order)," he said adding that the candidate should not be exceeding the age of 67 by the end of this year as per the BDU act 1981.

The committee will be marking the candidates based on their academic credentials and the top 10 candidates would be called for the interview.
Amendment brought in by the state government for appointing vice chancellors earlier this year has changed the whole selection process. The amendment was aimed at overhauling the selection process.
Earlier applications from the candidates used to directly reach the committee members but now a nodal officer receives it and sends it to the committee members.
The nodal officer is expected to give the list of candidates to the committee on Monday.
