Group of Swedish students awestruck by heritage spots

PROMINENT places in the dis-trict, including Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple, its small streets, Amma Mandapam and the crowded Gandhi Market will not cease to amaze visitors. The Vice Principal of the Swedish School said that the stu-dents have Social studies as one of the subjects in their curriculum. The programme at Tiruchy commenced on September 8, organised by Youth Exnora Inter-national (YES). 'The students are finding the
trip really useful as many new things are being learned by them," said Fredrick. Swedish School students have been visiting India in the past one decade. The team had earlier visited Mumbai and now Tiruchy for nine days. The students would not miss the important land-marks in the district and will cover it. R Santhanam, Exnora Senator of YEI and International Coordinator of the Swedish School said that the team will visit Pachamalai hills on Wednesday. The main intention of the pro-gramme is to inculcate and edu-cate the children of Sweden about our culture, Santhanam added. P Mohan, state president of YEI said that the team would visit Varkala, Kerala later on.
