IIT Madras to conduct Spark Junior Quiz

As part of Shaastra 2018, the annual tech-fest of IIT Madras, Spark Junior Quiz (SJQ), the flagship quizzing event for school students, will take place in Tiruchi on August 12.

Through this endeavour, the IIT Madras seeks to introduce school students to the world of Science, Technology & Innovation, with the idea of creating a bright tech-future for the country by way of instilling ideas for development in the young minds.

Montfort School, Kattur, will be the venue for the Spark Junior Quiz, a national-level competition for students of levels VIII to XII conducted in over 20 cities.

Over 4000 participants are expected to take part in the competition.

The winners of the competition will earn the chance to travel to IIT Madras for a National Science Conference along with a sponsored field trip to the country's best research centres.

The college tech-fest has the distinction of being the first student-managed technical festival in the nation to be ISO 9001:2008 certified. Since its inception in 2000, Shaastra has been featuring a wide variety of events encompassing a vast spectrum of innovation.

During the festival, the campus witnesses a congregation of thousands of intelligent tech-savvy students, researchers, renowned speakers and eminent personalities from a variety of fields, the release said.
