IIM-T celebrates Dhruva 3.0 on mega scale

Carnatic musicians K. Krishnakumar and Binni Krishnakumar perform at the inaugural of Dhruva 3.0 at Indian Institute of Management - Tiruchi on Friday.

The third edition of Dhruva 3.0, the annual management and cultural festival of Indian Institute of Management - Tiruchi has attracted 7,500 participants from 212 institutions across the country.

Conducted by student-run clubs and committees, the three-day celebration that got off to a start on Friday encompasses 11 management competitions and five cultural events to be graced by dignitaries and students from premium business schools.

Describing the programme as a prestigious platform to showcase talent, the organisers said it combines business wit with a celebratory dose of cultures from all over the nation.

The flagship events across business domains including Marketing, Operations, Finance, Consulting and Human Resources are meant to give students a hands-on experience of management and expose them to competition of a national scale, the organisers said.

This year, Dhruva 3.0 will feature a stand-up comedy by Rahul Subramanian and the highly anticipated EDM (electronic dance music) night featuring renowned DJs Greff and Shiva Manvi hosted by Sunburn.

The cultural festival was formally inaugurated by Carnatic singers of acclaim K. Krishnakumar and Mrs. Binni Krishnakumar. They encouraged the students to start singing to improve mental health and achieve work-life balance.

They also performed a duet which enthralled the audience. On popular demand Mrs. Binni Krishnakumar also performed the famous Ra Ra song from the Tamil movie Chandramukhi.

The guests of Honour, Commander Anup Thomas, Chief Inspector of Naval Armament (Trichy); and D. Prasanna Balaji, Head and Director Research Department of Physical Education, National College, offered felicitations.

Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM, Tiruchi; and Upam Pushpak Makhecha, Chairperson – Student Affairs, also addressed the gathering. In his address, Dr. Metri explained the link between culture and management.

Commander Anup Thomas explained the importance of quality in every facet of life and elaborated on how it could be achieved with a spirit of collaboration. Attributes of integrity and credibility were vital to become better leaders, he said.

Dr.Prasanna Balaji, inaugurated Khelotsav, an inter B-school tournament where students from various colleges compete in sports like Football, Badminton, Basketball and Table Tennis. He emphasised on the need of pursuing physical fitness to achieve success and happiness in life. He also explained how sports can help students learn crisis management.
