Bus route via E Boulevard Rd to be resumed finally

District collector K Rajamani on Saturday announced that the to Thuvakudi – via East Boulevard Road – will be restored from Sunday after the service was unavailable for a long time.

Additional to the existing route, buses-government and private–plying to Thuvakudi, from Chathiram Bus Stand would be taking the route via Butterworth Road, East Boulevard Road, Fish Market road and from there via and eventually to Thuvakudi.

This bus route was said to be unavailable for close to 20 years and sporadic attempts to revive it in the past proved unsuccessful, despite constant demands from the public.

Rajamani along with Trichy corporation commissioner N Ravichandran and other officials inspected the route on Saturday. They directed the roadside vegetable vendors to make sure that they don’t cause any discomfort to the buses plying in the road.

The new stops that are expected to be covered from Chathiram Bus Stand till fish market will include at Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Arasamaram, Town Railway Station, Murugan Theatre, Maharani Theatre and Periyapillayar Koil Street.

The existing route to Thuvakudi is from Chathiram Bus Stand via Main Guard Gate, Jaffer Shah Street, Marakkadai and Gandhi Market and then to Fish Market and from there, it will be the common route.

Residents and college students had long been demanding for bus service at East Boulevard Road without which they said that they experienced discomfort in their day to day life.
