NIT-T signs MoU with AAI



The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi (NIT-T), has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to promote joint ventures for the development of innovative technologies for air traffic management and control.

The objective of this MoU is to develop a long term collaboration, to arrive at mutually beneficial solutions in areas such as air navigation services and airport-related research and development activities.

Mini Shaji Thomas, Director, NIT-T, and K. Murali, Joint General Manager (ATM), Corporate Headquarters, AAI, exchanged the MoU documents at a function on Wednesday, a NIT-T press release said.

Terming the partnership with AAI as a significant step in the history of the institution, Ms.Mini Shaji Thomas said it would facilitate transfer of knowledge/skill to AAI officials through specifically-designed training programmes in areas of air traffic management, future air navigation service, air traffic management process re-engineering, airport operations/engineering solutions, radar signal processing and multi-sensor integration. Mr.Murali said the MoU would pave way for beneficial projects in terms of offering better research solutions to AAI and providing a research platform for the NIT-T scholars.

K. Gunasekaran, Director, Tiruchi International Airport, G.L. Lallu, DGM (ATM), Tiruchi, were also present.
