BHEL to explore new business opportunities in energy sector



As part of diversification, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited here is exploring potential business opportunities in the energy sector in line with the government’s efforts to pursue ‘coal to methanol’ process, its Executive Director R. Rajamanohar said here on Thursday.

The ongoing development initiatives in the field of Advanced Ultra Super Critical power projects and e-mobility would also help it to sustain and improve profitability, he said speaking at the BHEL Day. Mr. Rajamanohar said BHEL had reaffirmed its leadership position by bagging 100% of the market share in main plant equipment for thermal utility segment and underlined the importance of quality, cost reduction, productivity and timely delivery.

With state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and a large talent pool of skilled manpower, BHEL would overcome all challenges, he said. The uninterrupted functioning of BHEL-supplied sets at Kaiga Atomic Power Station and Unchahar Thermal Power Plant stood testimony to the quality of BHEL products. A world record for nuclear power plants was created by Kaiga unit when it clocked more than 941 days of non-stop functioning and a national record was set by Unchahar facility with 703 days of uninterrupted operation.

Four employees had won the prestigious Prime Minister’s Shram Awards for 2017, he said.

Earlier, Mr.Rajamanohar unfurled the BHEL flag to mark the occasion and administered BHEL Day pledge to employees, a press release said. He also distributed prizes to winners of various competitions held in connection with BHEL Day celebration.
