Tiruchi gets one more public park

One more public park with amusement facilities for children was declared open at Sanjeevi Nagar here on Saturday.

It was as part of the Tiruchi City Corporation's initiatives to improve leisure infrastructure and beautification of public space. It has been set up at a cost of Rs. 54 lakh.

The park has been established with walking track, amusement equipment for children, artificial fountain, lawn and toilets. A yoga hall, with a seating capacity of 50 persons, has also been constructed. As a part of security measure, surveillance cameras have also been installed. The lawn is created on 1500 square feet of land.

Vellamandi N. Natarajan, Minister for Tourism, declared open the park at a function held at Sanjeevi Nagar, in the presence of Minister for Backward Classes and Minority Welfare, S. Valarmathi, Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer, N. Ravichandran and City Engineer S. Amuthavalli.

Asking the residents to utilise the park well, Mr. Natarajan said it was among 40 public parks being established under the Smart City Initiative. The parks with greenery and amusement infrastructure would give the opportunity to spend their leisure time with their family members, relatives and children. It would enhance the quality of life.

In a separate function, the Ministers declared open a hostel building for accommodating the patients' assistants on the premises of Government Hospital in Srirangam.

Established at an estimate of Rs. 50 lakh under the National Urban Livelihood Mission, the hostel has facilities to accommodate 50 persons.
