Changes in train service due to maintenance work




The Southern Railway has announced changes in pattern of train services as major track maintenance work has been taken up between Budalur and Thanjavur in Tiruchi division to eliminate aged welds to ensure safe running of trains.

The work involves packing of track, points and crossings, greasing of clips and distressing of tracks. The track maintenance work will prohibit corrosion of rails and other fittings and in turn ensure tracks and fittings are intact. The work is being undertaken to ensure passenger safety and smooth operation of trains, a press release said. To facilitate the work, the following changes would be in force:

The Tiruchi-Thanjavur Passenger (T.No.76824/76827) will be fully cancelled December 8, 15, 22 and 29.

The Tiruchi - Mayiladuthurai passenger (T.No.56824 ) will be partially cancelled between Kumbakonam and Mayiladuthurai from December 7 to 31.

The Tirunelveli – Mayiladuthurai – Tirunelveli Passenger (T.No.56822 / 56821 ) will be partially cancelled on Tiruchi - Thanjavur – Tiruchi section from December 7 to 31 except Sundays.

The Tiruchi – Mayiladuthurai Express (T.No.16234) will be dealt on wrong line between Budalur and Alakkudi and will arrive 50 minutes behind schedule at Mayiladuthurai from December 6 to 31.

The Karaikal - Tiruchi Passenger (T.No.56711 ) will be regulated for 10 minutes at Kulikarai from December 19 to 23.

The Tirunelveli – Mayiladuthurai Passenger (T.No.56822 ) will be regulated for 45 minutes at Aduthurai and will arrive 60 minutes behind schedule at Mayiladuthurai on December 7.

The Mayiladuthurai - Tiruvarur Passenger (T.No.56879 ) will depart from Mayiladuthurai at 6.30 p.m., 20 minutes behind schedule, on December 7.
