Campaign on to seed UANs with Aadhaar

The Tiruchi regional office of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched a campaign to ensure cent per cent linking of Universal Account Numbers (UAN) of employees with their Aadhaar by all establishments under its jurisdiction by December 15.

Linking of UAN and Aadhaar is not only a statutory duty of the employer but also a pre-requisite to avail a bouquet of e-services provided by the EPFO to stakeholders, Vanlal Muan, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-I, Tiruchi, said in a press release.

Linking of the UAN with Aadhaar was mandatory. Failure to link UANs with Aadhaar within the stipulated time by the establishments would attract penal action under the provisions of Employees Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952.

The regional office in Tiruchi and district offices in Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Karur and Cuddalore would extend technical support to establishments in the seeding process. Officers of the EPFO were also visiting major establishments and industrial clusters to organise camps to facilitate the seeding, he added.

Employees Provident Fund Organisation would organise the monthly ‘PF Near You’ programme at its sub-regional office here on December 10.

The programme is not only meant to redress grievances of subscribers and employers but also to invite their suggestions and sensitise stakeholders of the new initiatives taken by the EPFO. The meet would be open for subscribers from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; for employers from 3 p.m to 4 p.m. and for exempted establishments from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., Vanlal Muan, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-I, Tiruchi, said in a press release.
