Trichy's airwing NCC cadets win medals in aero modelling
TRICHY : Airwing NCC cadets from Trichy colleges win national level medals in aero modelling competitions held at Rajasthan.
All India Vayu Sainik Camp 2018 (AIVSC), the most prestigious camp/competition for all the Air Wing NCC cadets across the country concluded in Jodhpur, Rajasthan on Sunday.
While a combined team of 42 cadets from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman Nicobar Directorate (TN, P & AN Dte) won the overall golden trophy, of this winning contingent, 7 cadets hail from 3 TN AIR squadron (TECH) NCC, Rockford group, Trichy.
Flight cadet S Rajasekar clinched the gold medal in the static aero modelling and cadet M Infant Raj won silver in control line flying competition while representing Tamil Nadu which eventually helped the state lift the overall trophy.
Winning a gold medal in the aero modelling static competition was a result of 5 month long hard work, says S Rajasekar who made the miniature of Sukhoi SU-30mki – Russian made fighter jet of Indian air force.
“Apart from the measurement of the model that must be exactly same in ratio, fine finishing is decisive to win gold and I was prepared for it,” he says.
“Attending AIVSC would remain the memorable moment of my life where I was honoured in the national arena where I didn’t have to bear the expense for the resources for being part of the NCC,” Rajasekar said. It was a tough competition for M Infant Raj, studying second year B Sc Physics in St Joseph’s College Trichy. Winning gold in the state level control line, aero modelling competition, he was optimistic for a gold but had to settle for a bronze here.
Congratulating the medal winners and contingent, Wing Commander C Gunasekaran, Commanding Officer 3 TN Air Squadron NCC said “we teach air cadet to make a flying aero model and that require hours of teaching and enhancing their artistic skills. Therefore, air wing is not just about physical training but developing skillset and knowledge.”
