Trichy: Bharathidasan University has registered online to undergo NAAC accreditation process for the third cycle. It took over a year for the university to prepare for the third cycle as the university’s NAAC accreditation expired in the second cycle in September last year.
While citing frequent changes to the accreditation process by NAAC as the reason, the university took time to get data and supporting documents for the process.

“The data collection is complete and ready with the self-study report that will be submitted online once the registration is approved by NAAC,” said vice-chancellor P Manisankar.

“Submission of self-study report (SSR) would take at least a week,” he said, adding that SSR preparation was a painstaking process started in the beginning of the year. “The 110-page report for the online SSR submission has been meticulously planned and we are expecting A ++ grade.

Collecting supporting documents for all the data that must be submitted as part of NAAC accreditation was a tedious task, said Manisankar. But the work has been accomplished satisfactorily, he added.

While the university has scored 3.16 in the second cycle of NAAC accreditation, it is aiming at 3.50 to obtain A ++ grade. To become eligible to offer distance education courses, the university must score above 3.26.
