Parking area, traffic regulations notified

The city police on Wednesday notified temporary parking areas and traffic regulations in prime commercial areas around Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Road as festival shoppers start thronging the places ahead of Deepavali.

The temporary parking arrangements and traffic regulations will be in force till November 6.

Parking of vehicles will not be allowed between Ramakrishna Theatre and Gandhi Statue on Madurai Road and between Post Office and Ibrahim Park on West Boulevard Road. Similarly, College Road and Fort Station Road will also be no-parking zones.

All two-wheelers will have to be parked at Super Bazaar, Corporation ground situated between Holy Cross Higher Secondary School and Banana Leaf hotel, Corporation Yanaikulam ground and Bishop Heber Higher Secondary School grounds.

All four-wheelers have to be parked along Old Goodshed Road, the designated parking lot at Fort Station, Bishop Heber Higher Secondary School ground or near Gaiety Theatre.

No vehicle will be allowed to park in areas other than the notified places and violators will be booked.

All vehicles coming to Big Bazaar Street should exit via Khiledhar Street and Babu Road. Vehicles will not be allowed to proceed towards Big Bazaar Street in the opposite direction on this route. No vehicle will be allowed to enter NSB Road via Nandhikovil Street from North Andal Street.

Autorickshaws will not be allowed to ply via NSB Road. Autorickshaws can pick up passengers along the roadside on North Andal Street and proceed via Vanappattarai Mariamman Street to reach College Road. In the return direction, they should go via Chathram Bus Stand and Butterworth Road to reach North Andal Street.

Autorickshaws will not be allowed to go via Chinnakadai Street and Khiledhar Street from Babu Road. They can pick up or drop passengers from the roadside on Babu Road, a press release said.
