CM inaugurates facilities in various colleges via video conferencing

TRICHY: Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, via video conferencing from Chennai, inaugurated new facilities at Bharathidasan University (BDU) and at Government Polytechnic College at Sethurapatti in Srirangam on Wednesday.
An academic block, a fitness centre and a sump, with two-lakh litre capacity to store Cauvery water, were inaugurated in the BDU campus. The new set-ups were constructed at a cost of Rs 8.13 crore.

The university is uptill now is receiving Cauvery water through a dedicated pipeline from the combined drinking water scheme and the sump was installed to store the water.

“The academic block is meant for school of management studies. It will also accommodate commerce department,” said BDU vice chancellor P Manisankar. “The new building will be more spacious for the students of management studies. They would be given accommodation in the guest house building and a building near library,” he added.

The CM also inaugurated an additional building at Government Polytechnic College at Sethurapatti in Srirangam. The new building was constructed at a cost of Rs 10.69 crores.


This apart the CM also inaugurated a slew of several new facilities in academic institutions across the state.


Palaniswami inaugurated additional buildings at Government Polytechnic Colleges at three other places in the state- Kattuvanjanur from Sankarapuram zone of Villupuram district, Chekkanoorani in Madurai and at Appinayakanpatti in Uthangarai zone in Krishnagiri district. Each building was constructed at a cost of Rs 10.69 crore respectively.
