Bus services launched

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Kumbakonam Division, added 111 buses to its fleet on Friday.

The operation of 29 new buses sanctioned for Tiruchi region was initiated by the Minister for Backward Classes and Minority Welfare S. Valarmathi.

Collector K. Rajamani, Member of Parliament T. Rathinavel and MLAs were present.

The new services will improve connectivity to Tiruppur, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Salem, Madurai, Pollachi, Dindigul, Velankanni, Velur, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Jayankondam and Thuraiyur.

In Nagapattinam district, Textiles Minister O.S. Manian inaugurated the services of seven new buses to Erode, Chidambaram, Puducherri, Tiruchi, Palani, Tiruppur and Salem.

District Revenue Officer V. Murugesan and MLAs took part in the function organised at Nagapattinam bus stand.
