BHEL Tiruchi wins six national safety awards

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchi, has won six national safety awards and 26 of its employees have won seven Vishwakarma national awards for the year 2016. The national safety awards are given by the Ministry of Labour to recognize management and employees of industrial undertakings for best safety practices while the Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskars are given by the Centre for rewarding and recognizing suggestions leading to outstanding achievement on the part of workers in increasing productivity at industrial undertakings.

The awards were presented by Union Minister of Labour and Employment (Independent Charge) Santosh Kumar Gangwar, at a function held in New Delhi recently. Atul Sobti, Chairman and Managing Director, BHEL, and other senior officers of BHEL received the awards. According to a press release, the Combined Cycle Demonstration Plant and Human Resource Development Centre of BHEL, Tiruchi, won the awards for the lowest average frequency rate in the 0.1 to 0.25 million man-hours category. The Energy Systems Group (ESG) has been adjudged winners for the same in the 0.05 to 0.1 million man-hours category. For longest accident free period, Unit-2 of High Pressure Boiler Plant (in over one million man-hours category), ESG complex (in the 0.1 to 0.25 million man-hours category) and Magneto Hydro Dynamics complex were adjudged runners up.
