Two more smart city proposals from Trichy City Corporation (TCC) have received administrative nod

TRICHY: Two more smart city proposals from Trichy City Corporation (TCC) have received administrative nod from high power committee comprising senior bureaucrats of the state government.
Work on the two proposals -- Uyyakondan river front development and multi-level car parking in West Boulevard road -- combined estimated at Rs 37.82 crore are likely to commence in next three months after the proposal get technical sanctions from the same committee.

After the tourism development in and around iconic Rock Fort locality proposal under Smart City Mission had been okayed by high power committee, the TCC through two separate consultants submitted a proposal each for the Uyyakondan river front development and multi-level car parking.

River front development along the banks of the Uyyakondan at an estimated cost of Rs 17.54 crore will promote green space and amenities for about 2.1 km stretch between Chettipalam bridge and PWD’s aqueduct near Kuzhumayee Amman temple. As many as three parks including a peacock-themed park signifying the presence of peacocks along Uyyakondan banks will be established.

Similarly, a proposal for multi-level parking facility at an estimated cost of Rs 20.28 crore to park as many as 678 vehicles, including 142 cars, has also received the administrative nod. The four-level parking space to decongest commercial streets would come up in one-acre space of the TCC available over the West Boulevard road near Singarathope.


The multi-level parking will come up with a facility for the TCC to rent 26 commercial units, through which the maintenance of the parking facility can be carried out. Officials said that civil work for the two projects might be taken up by the yearend.
