Swachh Survekshan 2019: Trichy Corporation to hold short film, jingle contests

TRICHY: The Trichy City Corporation will hold short film and jingle contests -- as part of Swachh Survekshan 2019 -- to promote citizen participation in keeping the city clean.
The corporation is organising the contests in association with National College.

There are five themes for the contests -- “Bin-free Trichy,” “Garbage- free Trichy,” “Open defecation-free Trichy,” “Plastic-free Trichy” and “Our waste our responsibility.”

Participants can make both short films and jingles to educate and create awareness among residents about civic body’s initiatives and accomplishments in solid waste management.

A jury comprising experts in film making will select top three submissions in each of the two categories. There will be cash prizes to the tune of Rs 50,000 in each category.

Interested participants should submit their short films and jingles on or before September 20, 2018. They should register online on www.cleantrichy.com. They same web page can be used to submit short films and jingles.

The duration of short films should be minimum one minute and should not exceed eight minutes. The duration of jingles should not exceed 60 seconds.

“The contests will be held to promote awareness among citizens and to make them participate in the civic body’s efforts to keep the city clean. Besides serving as a medium, such engagements with residents would make locals responsible,” corporation commissioner N Ravichandran said.
