Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan woos engineering graduates

Engineering colleges here are understandably encouraging students with B.E or B.Tech in Computer Science / IT to apply for the post of PGT in Computer Science advertised by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.

The process of online registration on KVS website: www.kvsangathan.nic.in that began on August 24 will end on September 19.

The KVS has notified 46 vacancies for the post of PGT Computer Science, alongside the openings for various other subjects.

Though B.Tech / B.E. in Computer Science / IT has been considered by KVS as equivalent to M.Sc Computer Science / MCA for the post of PGT in Computer Science, not many B.Tech students are aware about the scope for taking up teaching job in schools after technical education, a principal of an engineering college said.

In fact, applications from candidates with B.E. or B.Tech qualification in any other stream is also accepted provided the applicant has a Post Graduate Diploma in Computers from a recognised university additionally, according to the recent advertisement. An aggregate of 50 per cent marks is the minimum score required to apply for the post.

Much to the relief of the B.E./ B.Tech candidates in Computer Science / IT, private CBSE schools are also accepting their candidature, taking the cue from KVS, it is learnt.

But, unlike in the case of the private CBSE schools, the only challenge several aspirants with B.E/B.Tech qualifications desirous of applying for PGT post in KVs are likely to face is the requirement of proficiency in Hindi. The written test encompasses 10 questions each in General Hindi and General English under Part I.

Part II of the question paper pertains to General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Reasoning Ability, Computer Literacy and Pedagogy, and the interview part accounts for 60 marks.

The advertisement states that the date of written test will be notified on KVS website.
