CII-Tiruchi Zone to make presence felt at tech meet
A large delegation of Confederation of Indian Industry, Tiruchi Zone, is expected to take part in the Conference on Aerospace & Defence Manufacturing Technologies at Chennai on August 17.
The meet is being organised by CII Southern Region in partnership with Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM).
CII has invited Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to the third edition of the conference on the theme ‘Fostering a competitive, innovative and robust industry’.
CII-Tiruchi Zone has been in constant touch with SIDM for transforming the focus of fabrication industries in Tiruchi to the requirements of the proposed Tamil Nadu Defence Corridor project.
Earlier this year, a team of naval officials visited Tiruchi to determine the facilities at TREAT (Tiruchirapalli Engineering and Technology Cluster), and prepare fabrication and engineering industries for manufacturing components for defence equipment.
Members of CII-Tiruchi Zone and representatives of other industry organisations will be looking forward to gain perspectives on the way forward during the conference that seeks to synergising strengths and capabilities for a prospective growth in manufacturing segment to achieve indigenization in the aerospace and Defence sector.
One of the five sessions ofi the conference is devoted to Tamil Nadu Defence Corridor, and the opportunities around it for MSMEs and State Defence Industrial Policies with the following focus areas: Maintenance Repair and Overhaul services, Finance Assistance schemes, Incentives for units in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Test facilities to Private Sectors, and Design & Certification.
