Vedic ‘patasala’ at Srirangam

Sri Vanamahachala Vidhya Peetam - a Vedic ‘patasala’ was inaugurated at Srirangam on Sunday. Established by the Sri Vanamamalai Mutt, Nanguneri, the Vidhya Peetam was inaugurated by Srimad Madhurakavi Vanamamalai Ramanuja Jeer. Former Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami attended the function.

The aim of the Vidhya Peetam is to spread Vedic knowledge, said those associated with the Peetam.

The entire programme meant for students including food and stay is free of cost. Some Sanskrit scholars have volunteered to teach the students and a few others are expected to be engaged. The minimum foundation programme will be of seven years duration after which the students would given certificate by the Vidhya Peetam.
