Mobile App to book unreserved tickets

UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System), a mobile application, will be launched in Tiruchi railway division on April 14 to enable passengers to buy unreserved tickets, season tickets and platform tickets from their mobile phone.

The new facility forms part of the ‘Operation 5 minutes’ plan announced by the Railway Minister. The App can be downloaded from Google Play Store and Apple Store.

This facility, aimed at promoting paperless ticketing system, will be available for travelling from Tiruchi Junction, Ariyalur, Thanjavur Junction, Mayiladuthurai Junction, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam Junction, Kumbakonam, Puducherry and Nagapattinam.

Tickets can be booked within a radius of five km from these nine stations to any destination in the Southern Railway. This ticket cannot be transferred from one mobile to another in any mode, including SMS. The tickets cannot be booked on the railway station premises, including platforms, and on board trains due to geofencing, a move aimed at preventing ticketless travel. Payments can be made using R-Wallet, the railway’s e-payment wallet, which can be be used without incurring additional charges. The R-Wallet could be topped up at any booking office counter or through IRCTC website www.irctc.co.in.Assistance is available atwww.utsonmobile.indi anrail.gov.in.
