600 students enrol for NEET coaching

Residential coaching to equip 600 front-ranking students of levels X to XII from the central districts for entrance examinations began at two locations in the district on Monday.

Of the 250 students undergoing training at Shivani Engineering College at Poolankulathupatti, 81 are from Tiruchi district, 58 (Thanjavur), 48 (Pudukottai), 45 (Thiruvarur) and 18 (Nagapattinam). Likewise, of the 350 students housed in Kongunadu Engineering College at Tholurpatti, 28 belong to Ariyalur district, 48 (Perambalur), 171 (Salem), and 103 (Cuddalore).

The programme, sponsored by the School Education Department, were inaugurated by State Ministers Vellamandi N. Natarajan and S. Valarmathi at Shivani Engineering College in the presence of Collector K. Rajamani, Joint Director of Technical Education Sukanya and senior officials.

The programme’s objective was explained by Project Director of Rastriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan V.C. Rameswara Murugan.

Tiruchi is the only district with two centres for the programme. The coaching programme, which is being conducted at nine centres across the State, will help students to face NEET and other entrance exams, the ministers said.
