Painted walls that teach a lesson

In an effort to create awareness of adhering to traffic rules, good habits and cleanliness among the citizens, the city police has embarked upon a wall painting project in the city.

Under the initiative, the walls, which have high visibility and side walls of major bridges, will be painted on various themes such as cleanliness, use of garbage bins, importance of following traffic rules, wearing helmet and environment protection.

The police have roped in the services of students of a few colleges, including an architecture college, volunteers and donors for executing the project.

In the first phase, the students have begun painting the walls of Melapudur sub-way. The students removed the wall posters and commercial and political advertisements before starting to paint. With attractive colours depicting thematic paintings, the walls of Melapudur sub-way, which were often disfigured by various groups, look neat and clean, carrying social messages to the people.
