Golden Rock Workshop’s performance appreciated



Southern Railway General Manager R.K. Kulshrestha who inspected the Golden Rock Railway Workshop here on Friday.

Chief Workshop Manager of Golden Rock Workshop P. N. Jha explained about the activities being carried out in the organisation including periodic overhaul of diesel locomotives and steam locomotives and passenger coaches.

The General Manager went to the unit where high horsepower diesel locomotives were being overhauled and later flagged off a steam locomotive which was overhauled to run in the Nilgiris Mountain Railway again.

He was explained about the workshop’s activity of carrying out period overhaul of locomotives belonging to some public sector undertakings.

During the course of his inspection, Mr. Kulshrestha also flagged off an overhauled diesel locomotive belonging to National Thermal Power Corporation.

Mr. Jha told The Hindu that the General Manager interacted with the staff and supervisors and appreciated the performance of the workshop.

The General Manager gave away cash award of Rs. 3.17 lakh to the workshop in appreciation of its good work.

He released a maintenance manual prepared by the technical personnel of the workshop for maintenance of ‘X’ class locomotives which are being operated in the Nilgiri Mountain Railway.

Earlier, the General Manager inaugurated a barrack constructed for the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel near Tiruchi Junction. The 30-bed barrack has a kitchen, dining room, recreation room, strong room, geysers and toilets.

It has been constructed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited at a cost of Rs. 89 lakh, said RPF sources
