CII meet - Energy Conference - 2018

Green initiatives for sustainable development of cement sector and manufacturing sector were the focus of presentations by experts at the ‘Energy Conference - 2018’ organised by Confederation of Indian Industry, Tiruchi Zone, on Wednesday.

In his special address, K. Sridhar, Joint Executive President and Unit Head, Ultra Tech Cement Ltd, said the cement industry being resource and energy intensive, recognised the potential to create a substantial environment footprint.

Co-processing with alternative fuel had a key role in ensuring sustainable development, speakers explained. The emphasis was on technologies that would reduce electrical and thermal energy usage during the production of cement for which 40% cost was incurred for power.
