A team of officials surveyed and earmarked 42 houses out of 300 habitations. Officials have been instructed by the district administration to complete the process before December 15, so that civil work could be started in March 2018.

To execute the land acquisition, an 18-member special team headed by a tahsildar was formed three months back. The team has commenced its work and would be handing over the land to AAI soon.
Meanwhile, the special team headed by tahsildar Manikandan and other revenue staff visited the residential area of Bharathi Nagar and extension area of J K Nagar just opposite to the airport and conducted a survey to ascertain the total area, number of houses, how many are old and new and the value etc. A total of 42 houses were earmarked on Thursday.
According to officials, a total of 300 habitations have been earmarked for the airport expansion work in Trichy East and Thiruverumbur area and they will be surveyed in the coming days.
