Tiruchy, a favourite spot for tourists

TIRUCHY does best, when it comes to attracting tourists from other States and foreign countries, and the tourists are left with a fun-filled and memorable trip when they return. With many prominent tourist destinations in-and-around the city, add-ed to the moderate climate condiions prevailing these days, tourists are more keen on visiting Tiruchy and exploring the nearby places. Located at the centre of the State, the travel is not complete without crossing the city and its outskirts. The already congested streets in the town that leads to the Rockfort temple and other arterial roads are
more-and-more crowded now with people from adjoining districts and states.

Foreigners roaming around with huge backpacks, goggles, modern outfits and high-end DSLR cameras are common sight for Tiruchiites these days, even at devotional places. Like in the Union Territories where one could hire a bike for their travel, the tourists at Tiruchy can hire two-wheelers during their course of stay in the city for stress-free transportation. Visitors are also happy that they need not change their attire to enter a temple premise here, unlike in near by states where the dress code is strictly implemented.

According to an official with Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC), there has been a sharp rise in the number of visitors, mostly travellers from other states and countries, of late. As per information from the TTDC, there are about 100 guides in Tiruchy who are trained in the hi-tory of the city, navigation, iconic landmarks, arranging for accommodation of travellers, and being with them till the end of the trip. It is a service offered by the TTDC officials by deputing guides to the travellers, for free. "We have made all the provisions to ease the travellers from tensions during the stay here. The foreigners, book their hotels"
