Free NEET coaching for poor students

In a welcome move, one of the institutes for competitive examinations 'Seekers Educational Services Private Limited' that has branches in many places across the State has come for-ward to offer cost-free training on NEET for 23 students. The criteria been set to the students hailing from rural pockets and belong to the under-privileged background, and included accommodation facilities for them. With the current scenario of coaching centres mushrooming in every nook and corner of the city to produce a hefty profit from the students' fees, this Tiruchy-based Seekers is offering cost-free NEET coaching to the top 30 selected students with accommodation and food facility as part of the social initiative.

After having waited for months in search for a NEET coaching centre with affordable fees, S Preethi, daughter of a farmer from Kullanchavadi in Cuddalore district, availed herself of a chance to undergo NEET coaching which came with the priceless tag including accommodation. Seventeen-year-old Preethi said, "I secured 950 marks out of 1,200 in class XII board examination, and simultaneously appeared for MEET. But, my NEET score had failed to fetch me a medical seat, so I took a long wait to undergo coaching for a year." This is when she came to know about the Seekers that offer free classes for government and government-aided school students with the limited seat of 30 including accommodation. Wasting no time, she had registered her entry and got selected. One of the criteria which the coaching centre set was the student should be economically backward, scored above 1,000 marks in Class XII and willing to go into the medical field. Thus, Preethi became eligible to undergo her coaching classes in Tiruchy. She is one among the 23 students including boys, who hail from rural Tamil Nadu aiming to complete NEET next year.

Alternatively, A Chandru from Theni had left with only option to join engineering other than his favourite medical course. Thus, he was admitted to Anna University in Dindigul campus and he had appeared even for a test during his study there. The news of free NEET coaching then reached Chandru's ears. He added, "My parents were ready for my decision to in-vest a year exclusively for NEET, that too for free is the added advantage for the students from weaker sections like me." Now, there are 23 students who have availed themselves of the facility. Where six are boys and remaining girls, two of the girls are day scholars. Boys and girls were accommodated separately in two different locations near the Seekers.
