TANSA award for academic .K. Ruckmani

K. Ruckmani, Professor and Head of Pharmaceutical Technology, University College of Engineering, Bharathidasan Institute of Technology Campus, Anna University, Tiruchi, has been awarded the Tamil Nadu Scientist Award 2014 (TANSA) by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology for her contribution to the field of drug delivery systems.

Ms. Ruckmani is the first woman candidate from Tamil Nadu to complete research in the field of pharmacy, a press release from the institution said. She is also the Director, Centre for Excellence in Nano-bio Translational Research.

The award carries Rs. 50,000 cash prize and a citation.

Dr.Ruckmani has expertise in various research areas such as multi-functional smart nano particle systems, inhalation toxicology, impact of environmental and societal factors in pulmonary diseases, occupational health and herbal medicine.

Ms. Ruckmani has received research grant to the tune of more than Rs. 9.5 crore, the press release added.
