Sweet shops told to obtain certification

In view of the festival period ahead, sweet makers and sellers have been instructed by the district administration to secure certification of the Food Safety Department in compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006.

Preparations must be made by manufacturers using quality inputs and the shops must sell the products in a hygienic environment, District Collector K. Rajamani said in a press release. Sweet shops and bakeries must ensure that complete address of the manufacturer, name of sweet, date of packing, use by date, and ingredients are described clearly on the packets, he said.
