ITC to invest Rs. 2,500 cr. in TN

The company’s chairman Y.C. Deveshwar had said two years ago that the company was investing Rs. 2,500 crore in Tamil Nadu.


Some of these investments are already on in different locations and across sectors. According to Chitranjan Dar, group head of Research and Development and Projects, one of the major investments will be in Pudukottai where the company is coming up with an Integrated Consumer Goods Manufacturing and Logistics Facility. About 14 lakh sq.ft. will be built in two phases on 55 acres. ITC will make food products such as biscuits, atta, and noodles at this plant.

It is learnt that the Pudukottai project will see close to Rs. 1,000 crore investment and is expected to be commissioned by mid 2018. And, ITC is likely to have one more integrated manufacturing and logistics facility in the State. It would also invest substantially for expansion of the paper boards and speciality paper division’s plant in Coimbatore. In the hospitality sector, the company has made investments at the WelcomHotel in Coimbatore inaugurated on Tuesday.
