Data recovery centre opened at IT Park

Image result for Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC) TrichyA Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC), established by the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) at the IT Park at Navalpattu in the outskirts of the city, was declared open by Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswami through video conference from Chennai on Wednesday.

The DRC has been established at a cost of Rs. 59.85 crore.

Former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had laid the foundation for the centre in March 2016.

The DRC is mainly intended to ensure data security and avoid data loss because of man-made or natural disasters.

The Disaster Recovery Centre will be a back up of the State Data Centre, where e-governance applications of various State government departments are hosted, and ensure there is no data loss due to natural disasters or terrorist attacks.

The DRC, with replication of content at both sites, will help ensure minimal or no disruption to the e-governance services on such eventualities.

25 servers

According to sources, about 25 servers have already been established at the Centre and the number of servers will go up to 100 within five years.

Collector K. Rajamani and other officials were present at the centre during the inauguration.
