250 firms come calling to NIT-T campus

The National Institute of Technology-Tiruchy (NIT-T) has chosen to focus more on core placements in the past years, taking into consideration the large number of departments for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses. Training and placement data from the institution showed about 250 companies visited for recruitment in the 2016-17 academic year, the highest in the country.

Some major companies visiting the campus include Amazon, Oracle, Siemens, Morgan Stanley, Dell, Deloitte, HCL, Infosys, HP, Reliance, IBM, Wipro, Ford, NVIDIA and MediaTek.The highest domestic Cost-To-Company (CTC) is around `28 lakh per annum and the average is `7.8 lakh (data until June 2017). When asked why there are no overseas offers, A K Bakthavatsalam, professor and head of training and placement, said, “recruiters from abroad, particularly the US, were less in numbers due to visa uncertainties. We get a few offers from the Middle East, Mauritius and Singapore.”
