Time to shop for exclusive creations

Over 30 artisan groups and traders from all over the country have been displaying the best of ethnic Indian design and handicrafts at the ‘Trichy Utsav 2017 - Celebrating Handmade’ shopping festival over the weekend.

Curated by Direct Create, a Delhi-based online community of artists, artisans, makers, buyers and designers who are involved in the promotion of exclusive handmade creations, the three-day festival at Hotel Sangam is being organised by local women’s forum The Aura and Sparha Diamonds.

Besides home furnishings, much of the exhibition is devoted to clothing and textiles, from breathable cottons to exquisitely hand-painted and printed silks and even woollen items from Himachal Pradesh.

With Navarathri setting off the year-end festive season from September 21, most shoppers at the exhibition seemed to be in a mood to get new apparel and matching accessories.

The event will be open at Hotel Sangam from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
