Image result for Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT)The Centre has asked the Tamil Nadu government to provide the status of online building plan approvals of all 33 Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) cities by Monday.

It is learnt that the Chief Planner of Town and Country Planning Organisation of the Centre has sought the details as under the AMRUT Mission, the cities have to create a single window clearance for all approvals to give building permission.

A total of 33 towns in the State have been selected under the Amrut scheme of which eight are within the jurisdiction of Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority and 25 under the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP).

It is learnt that the municipal corporations of Delhi and Mumbai have already implemented the online building plan approval system.

Under the online building plan approval system, all municipal corporations need to integrate  no objection certificates for covering all internal and external agencies as well as centralised online building plan approval at the State level as well as larger urban local bodies level. It also includes instant building permission for all types of buildings, uploading building plans  on the website, auto scrutiny of building plans, online payment system, provision of empanelment of architects as well as common application form for submission of plans.

The revision of building by-laws and introduction of single window system for plan approval are the reforms under the Amrut Mission and accomplishment of the same will make the State eligible for getting funds from the Centre.

Meanwhile, masterplans for 25 Amrut towns in DTCP using GIS technique will be implemented under three phases. Under Phase I, masterplans for Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchy, Tirupur, Erode and Hosur have been prepared. Plans are on to prepare a masterplan for Thoothkudi town also.
