NIT-T reaches out to colleges to promote entrepreneurship

The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Incubation (CEDI), National Institute of Technology - Tiruchi, has tied up with Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII), Chennai, for creating eco-system for entrepreneurship in Tiruchi district.

In the wake of NIT-T's designation as a hub institution for the State Government's IEDP (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Program), the CEDI, on Wednesday conducted a workshop for management representatives of 20 registered colleges.

Addressing the participants, NIT-T Director Mini Thomas highlighted the need for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship mindset among students in the context of the country's economic growth. Thrust on entrepreneurship has a bearing on the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) ranking, Prof. Mini said.

G. Kannaibiran, Professor, and Director - CEDI, called upon interested Engineering/Technology, Art/Science and polytechnic colleges to register for the IEDP before 30 September, to move up in the value chain from education and training to incubation, seed funding and mentoring.

CEDI has been focussing on awareness creation, education training, ideation, incubation, seed funding, and mentoring activities, and has already incubated 10 companies in diverse areas, Prof. Kannabiran said.
