Google start-up weekend got off to a start at the National Institute of Technology-Tiruchi on Friday.

Aimed at fostering entrepreneurship culture among college and university students, the event attracted about 120 participants from across the country.

Organised by the institute’s Entrepreneurship Cell, with support from CEDI (Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Incubation), the event spanning 54 hours would expose the participants to uncertain situations in entrepreneurship and prepare them mentally to administer a start-up company.

Each of the participants would experience the highs, lows, fun, and pressure that make up life at a startup.

Alongside, they would meet top-notch mentors, investors, co-founders, and sponsors who were ready to help them get started. The number of mentors was likely to increase and the event would culminate on Sunday with the evaluation of the business plans and announcement of winners.

According to the organisers, the e-Cell would be organising a series of more resourceful and innovative events to promote entrepreneurship in the campus during the course of the year.
