Fourth edition of Google Startup Weekend draws good response



STUDENTS of National Institute of Technology-Tiruchy (NIT-T) in their three-day Google Startup Weekend were part of a congregation of designers, coders with the sole purpose of starting up over the weekend. Startup Weekend is an event which takes place every year, in over 150 countries.It is a platform where aspiring entrepreneurs with or without an idea come together to pitch, form a team, bond and work on a single idea for 54 hours. Entrepreneurship Fund wothed hand-in-hand for the past three years and hosted the fourth edition of Startup Weekend Tiruchy, SWT4.0. E-Cell NIT-T is a student-run NGO, with ambitious and hardworking students who have come together with the common aim of promoting entrepreneurship at both at the campus and national levels. One of the most serious of the plethora of initiatives it undertakes is Start-up Weekend, which bound to push partic ipants to their limits. During the three-day event, a one-minute pitch was proposed and the best ones were shortlisted. This was followed by team formation where each individual can join with an idea he or she is interested in. The new teams are given a splendid atmosphere to bond with teammates and to work round the clock. The second day saw the mentoring session, where established startup experts come and sit with the young teams to support them in their venture. Each team came up with a mini-mum viable product which they pitched in front of a panel of investors, following which the prize distribution took place.
