THE Varma clinic at the Siddha department of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MG-MGH) is to function thrice a week from next month, thus increasing the patient intake. Earlier, patients could consult Varma doctors only on two days in a week. The number of patients at the Varma Clinic has been increasing in the few weeks after its inauguration, as the patients are gradually being aware of the medicine less treatment methods.

Varamlogy is one of the ancient ways of treating patients by just touching at the pressure points in the body to relieve pain and making the body function properly. The Varma clinic at the MGMGH which was inaugurated recently by Tiruchy district collector has been functioning twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday. Considering the good response, the Siddha department is planning to increase the number of days for patient intake to three days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday). Dr S Kamaraj, District Siddha Medical Officer, said, 'The Varma clinic was inaugurated three weeks ago and we have been receiving about 50 patients per day from the central districts, including Kartu Ariyalur, and Tiruchy. Most patients visit our clinic to get treatment for their bodily illnesses like perennial attack, joint and muscle pains, and for chronic diseases like obesity and arthritis." Due to the increased number of patients here, we have decided to extend patient intake from two days to three days a week, from next month, he added.
